SCHOOLS VISITS
A big thanks to all the Schools that welcomed back their heroes / past pupils to show the next stars of O’Loughlin Gaels the u16 and Minor trophies won this year. Excited children and Teachers from St. John’s Junior, St. Johns Senior, Johnswell N, The Model School, Gaelscoil Osrai and CBS Primary School all gave the St. John’s Parish lads a very rousing welcome and all the young players were notably proud to come back and visit their schools and hopefully inspire future successes at O’Loughlin Gaels just as they were when successful teams visited them. All St. John’s parish children were invited to get up to St. John’s Park and practice camogie and hurling skills and to get involved when the new season returns in the Spring. Lovely hurling.
The "Run for Alzheimers" which will be held on Sunday 26th of November at 11am in the Castle Park. This initiative raises money and awareness of this cruel disease that has a devastating impact on the sufferers and their families. The number of people being diagnosed is increasing. Over 55000 people in Ireland are living with Dementia and 4000 of them are under 65. The organisers will be raising money for the Village Day Care Centre in Kilkenny and the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and have seen first hand the great work they do in the day care centre and how much last year's fundraiser meant to them so hopefully this years 'Run for Alzheimers' will once again make a difference.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could join us on Sunday 26th or donate towards this worthy cause.
Online donations can be made through www.idonate.ie/kkfunrun
