MINORS ARE COUNTY CHAMPIONS
Click for Match Report
It was some week for our minor panel. Last Wednesday evening the enthralled a large attendance at MW Hire Dunmore as they dispensed of the Graigue-Ballycallan challenge with a scintillating performance in the semi –final (O’Loughlin Gaels 3-19 to 1-8 Graigue/Ballycallan).  By the following Sunday afternoon the lads were crowned Minor County Champions. 3-15 from play the previous outing should have sent shudders down the spine of the final’s opposition but instead true to form the Village took the game to the O’Loughlin’s lads. At half time the James Stephens had a one point lead but O’Loughlin’s knew they were in a game …and knew they had to up theirs. Two first half goals, Ben Maher (free) and Jordan Molloy, had kept the lads in touch…and in their own heads in touch wasn’t enough!  The second half saw an explosive performance from a determined group of lads that only had one focus…to take back that cup to St. John’s Park.  Within a minute of the restart Eoin Wall (1-4 from play) had netted the team’s third goal to get in front and there was no looking back. Ben Maher, Dacel Fwamba and Luke Hogan followed up quickly with a point each as the Loughs took total control. Barry Lawlor was immense at full back and played with a conviction that drove the team on. Oisin Murphy blocked an attack on the O’Loughlin Gael’s goal on 50mins and all of Nowlan Park knew that there was no way these lads were going to relinquish this lead. In their heads these lads put their names on this cup last Spring and they were here to claim their reward.
This is a great team. Their determination and willingness to work hard has been instilled in their game by network of support that includes management and family. Their bond is special. They’ve suffered heart break close hand and know how to hold and support each other and bring that energy to every game, and every occasion. Manager Brian Dowling and selectors Paul Phelan, Paul Cleere, Conor Bergin and James O’Keefe, all are afforded great credit for nurturing this bond. They’ve mentored a great team and drawn the very best from them. O’Loughlin Gaels GAA would like to thank the mentors, the families, sponsors MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre and supporters for contributing to this success. Well done all …lovely hurling.

U6s CELEBRATE A FINE YEAR

As to be expected it was a packed house in O’Loughlin Gaels GAA Club last Saturday evening as the u6 celebrated a great year of activities with mentors and family members. Each player received a Certificate of Completion from head coach Stephen McCormack marking the good work they all put in. Parents and supporters all enjoyed complimentary food and a good natter about the club's future prospects. From the evidence shown throughout the past year by this army of Gaels we can confirm that the future is looking very good. Well done to all involved and thanks to all the mentors who volunteer their time and good will to the club’s young players.

CHAMPIONS OUT
Senior C'Ship Semi Final
O'Loughlin Gaels 0:14 to 1:14 Dicksboro.
A first half goal proved the difference between these two sides in a game that not unlike the league final, never caught fire. The Gaels struggled to find inspiration to take this game by the scruff of the neck...and if they had the pendulum could easily have swung the other way. Every opportunity in fairness was stifled by a hungrier looking Boro side and they did enough to put themselves into a Co. Final. . the first all city final since 1950.
So the Champions are out...but there's plenty to look forward to..lots of young blood coming up the ranks and ready to take ownership of that coveted jersey once the opportunity arises.
Yes, it was a weekend that didn't deliver on its promise, but how many clubs would love to be in that same position on a Friday evening in mid October. Quite a few I suggest. So there's good work being done...players are coming through, and on Wednesday week the club can look forward to a minor Semi-Final and a chance to take in some more silverware. So chin up and keep on supporting O'Loughlin Gaels GAA Club. It serves us well. Hon the Loughs.

JUNIORS NEEDED THE POWER

O'Loughlin Gaels 0:19 to 1:17 John Lockes
A last minute point from James Power broke the hearts of the O'Loughlins support. A great final in Nowlan Park produced chances that could easily have seen our boys celebrating but at the end of any great contest there has to be a runner up. Fair play to the John Locke’s lads , worthy winners of this years Championship. Best of luck to them in the Leinster club championship in a couple of weeks.
Hard luck to all involved and well done on a great year that brought pride to O'Loughlin Gaels GAA

CLUB LOTTO - €20,000
There was no winner of last weeks Club Lotto. The numbers drawn were 05, 06, 23, 28 and the bonus number was 03. Next  week’s Jackpot prize will be €20,000 so make sure to get a ticket from the usual promotors. Tickets only €2 available from the bar http://www.oloughlingaels.gaa.ie/lotto

KATE’S A CHAMPION

Well done to Kate Furlong of Johnswell who played a large part in Presentation Secondary School’s success at the British & Irish Schools Soccer Championship in Lilleshall, England last weekend. Kate and her school team went to the Championships as Irish Champions and won every match they competed in, with our Kate netting numerous fine goals. The girls added British & Irish Champions to a long list of accolades picked up over the year. Well done Kate & well done Presentation Secondary Kilkenny.

MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP

The Minor A Championship continues next Wednesday evening wit semi-final clash against Graigue-Ballycallan fixed for MW Hire Dunmore at 7pm.  The lads have been going strongly and training hard and will be eager to make amends for last weekends disappointments.  They’ll need plenty of help though..lots of support please.

U8s COMPLETE A FINE SEASON

All juvenile age groups have just about completed their programmes for the year and u8s finished up on Sunday morning after an epic year of hurling and football. Well done to all the young players and a big thanks to the parents who supported them and of course the coaches who look after the young lads sporting welfare.

JUNIORS IN CO. FINAL

Result: Jnr C'Ship Semi-Final
O'Loughlin Gaels 2:17 to 2:9 Piltown
A very dominant second period has put O'Loughlins into this year's Junior Final. Sniping runs from Robbie Buckley and Jordan Molloy earned goals for Daniel O'Connor and Danny Lenihan respectively in the 2nd half as scores came from 10 of the O'Loughlins players including five points from John Doyle that will please the O'Loughlins management as they prepare their charges for the final. Well done all...lovely hurling

SENIORS MARCH ON

O'Loughlin Gaels 1:18 to 0:13 Erin's Own
This Senior Hurling Co. Final game caught fire. After a pedantic first 30 minurtes where the Gaels struggled to build on their dominance the 2nd half kicked started with an early goal from Mark Kelly that gave O’Loughin Gaels that cushion to see out the game. O'Loughlins were rarely in danger of losing this but will need to build on the performance to be convincing challengers when it comes to the semi-finals. Another step successfully negotiated so onwards and upwards

These pics were sent in to the club this week by a club enthusiast. Well done all...lovely hurling.
