Thanks to everyone at O’Loughlin Gaels GAA for helping out on Sunday in making the Wexford and Tipperary supporter’s day as enjoyable and as easy as possible. From early morning volunteers were in stewarding, making sandwiches and readying the bar for the afternoons onslaught..and with loads of words of thanks and praise sent to the club by our guests this last few days we can safely say that we’ve done another fine job. Well done to all on a fine effort.

TEAM NEWS:

RESULT: J. J. Kavanagh and Sons All County Junior Hurling League Group C
O'Loughlin Gaels 0-21 to 2-15 Barrow Rangers
A very entertaining match this evening at St. John's Park finished all square. Half time saw the visitors lead by 2pts (0-11 to 1-9). But a great effort by all with some fine point taking meant the spoils were shared at the final whistle. Well done all.
RESULT: Special Minor 13 Aside Competition Roinn A Quarter Final
Dicksboro 0-10 to 4-15 O'Loughlin Gaels.   Lovely Hurling.

KILKENNY MINORS

Well done to the four boys Conor, Ben, Jordan & Eoin who were part of the Kilkenny minor team that defeated Wexford in Nowlan Park on Saturday last. It’s a great honour for the club to be so well represented and we congratulate all our panellists

U8s PLAY CROKE PARK

What a day for our young stars as the U8s took full advantage of Leinster GAA's invitation to an Activity Day at Croke Park.  Over 30 of O'Loughlin Gaels best set off from St. John's Park on Tuesday afternoon accompanied by mentors, Brendan O'Leary and Brian Fox and a host of equally excited parents.  It was a day for big kids as well as small kids and a full report and photographs is on our website http://www.oloughlingaels.gaa.ie/u8-team-news/leinster-gaa-activity-day-at-croke-park

EGGHUNT & SOCIAL EVENING

It has been descrbed as "one of the greatest social evenings in the club's history".... "an old fashioned community event that will live long in the memory"...with one little girl announcing that.. "this was the best day of her life!"  (wait until she wins a camogie county final with O'Loughlin Gaels!).. However you describe it, it can safely be said that this was truly an Eggstraordinary event organised by the O'Loughlin Gaels GAA & Camogie Juvenile Clubs. From 6pm registration commenced and they came from all over the St. John's Community in their dozens descending upon St. John's Park no doubt drawn by the waft of BBQ in the air. U6 coach and event maker Stephen McCormack and his team were busy flipping up to 400 burgers to be served throughout the evening. 300 players…even more family members and friends enjoyed a spEGGtacle that former chairman Luke Roche described as the best sight he’s ever seen during his long association with O’Loughlin  Gaels GAA – 300 happy faces as they  sprinted the length of the main pitch to retrieve their well earned reward – a chocolate easter egg. They had previously played out an evening blitz that had all the drama, skill and comradarie we’ve come to expect from out national game.  There’s a full report and pictures included on our website at http://www.oloughlingaels.gaa.ie/social

John Locke's 2-12 to 3-21 O'Loughlin Gaels

RESULT: u16 Roinn A Hurling League Rd 3
O'Loughlin Gaels 2-15 to 0-17 James Stephens
A thoroughly entertaining Friday evening in the St. John's Park sunshine was made more enjoyable with a home win. Our boys ground out the result through hard work which is a great trait in any team, but they'll know there's a lot more work to do...and they won't mind that. The game produced some fine performances throughout with Ben Tyrrell, Declan Coffey and Vincent O'Grady putting in the hard yards and included a goal each from Jack Sheridan and Ethan Kerwick.
Monday evening produced another tough encounter for the boys as the overcame strong Kilmacow side 4-11 to 4-15 in Round 4 of the Roinn A League. Well done to all involved
Hard luck to our u14s this evening who exited the football championship to a formidable Thomastown side. The big ball will be put back in the press for another year now and the lads get back to hurling training at the weekend. Fair play boys

KILKENNY MINORS

Well done to the Kilkenny Minors who opened their campaign successfully in the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling Championship on Saturday against Westmeath. There's a healthy contingent of O'Loughlin Gaels represented and we wish them the very best as they take on Wexford in road 2. Good luck to Manager Pat O Grady and selectors in what hopefully will a strong campaign for all.

U8S GET READY FOR CROKE PARK

Picture
Picture
O'Loughlin Gaels v Graigue Ballycallan
Graigue/Ballycallan came with 22 and O'Loughlin Gaels matched them...so 2 teams and two crossover matches in sun soaked St John's Park made for a great day. Referee John Sheridan brought the sun home with him from Syria and you could say that he went from the frying pan into the fire as he mediated between these two sides.  Certainly Syria is good training for any referee!!! . These were important challenge matches before the U8 panel headed to Croke Park Tuesday to play Killoughy-Kilcormac (Offaly), home club of O'Loughlin Gaels stalwarts Hugh Mahon and Sean Casey. Thanks to all the parents who brought sandwiches and buns for our guests, especially Tracy McCormack and Ruth Comerford who served the food and teas/coffees.
Well done to all the u8s and mentors who played in Croke Park for the Leinster G.A.A. Activity Day. This is the 5th time in recent years that an O'Loughlin Gaels Juvenile team had this opportunity, and the lads enjoyed some valuable dressing room and on pitch experience on hallowed ground. Lovely hurling

HANDBALL NEWS
A great night of handball was had on Wednesday night at the O Loughlins end of season tournment. Six of our O' Loughlins best took on our city rivals Talbot Inch.  Every game was evenly contested with most games going down to the wire ! Also O' Loughlins stars, Rory Glynn and Cian Kelly won the U13 schools doubles on Monday.

A big well done to both players and also to Luke Hanrahan, Jacob Brislin, Sean Morrissey and Daniel McCormack who all put in a huge effort this year and it's really showing in the courts.
County chairman Martin Lawlor was on hand to say a few words and was thrilled with the standard of handball on view.  The future is bright for both city clubs.

A special thanks to Mark Kelly from Freshco on the Dublin road for providing drinks and treats for both clubs.  We would also like to thank Mark Brennan and John Morrissey for organising such a successful tournment

KILKENNY V WEXFORD PARKING

The Wexford supporters left St. Johns Park last Sunday evening fed and watered thanks to great volunteers at O'Loughlin Gaels GAA…… and they're salivating for a June encounter. They'll be worried about our man though...another good performance by Paddy Deegan which included a magnificent point. Maith thu Paddy! A big thanks to all those who helped out around St. Johns Park contributing to Nowlan Park continuing to be a great venue for the big games.  Now we look forward to doing it all over again on April 16th when Tipperary and Wexford Supporters roll in for the League Semi-Final. Lovely hurling.

TEAM NEWS:

O'Loughlin Gaels 2-14 to 1-10 Erin's Own
A good win for the u16A's this evening at St. John's Park was helped by two goals one in each half. Jack Sheridan whipped in the first with a sweet ground strike and in a tightly contested game it took a brilliant Conor Kelly goal 10mins from time to finally put distance between the two sides. Well done to all the lads who worked tirelessly throughout the field. There was a strong local support there and you can be sure that will continue as our teams compete throughout the season.
There was mixed results this week for the u16 B team. First up they had a fantastic win over The Fenians of Johnstown in Round one of the hurling league with a fine performance.  Then at the weekend their second round encounter resulted in a defeat to neighbours Conahy.  They’re all training hard together and will looking forwarded to the next few weeks of competitive action. Keep it up boys…lovely hurling
Watch out on the club’s website for an up to date fixture schedule and join the support.
