The Cats versus the Premier
O’Loughlin Gaels would like to congratulate the Kilkenny County Board for the hard work undertaken, to have Nowlan Park in pristine condition for the big clash against the auld enemy in Kilkenny H.Q. on Sunday last. It is not an exaggeration to say that the storms that bashed the Marble City in the month of February were without precedent. Much has been documented about the damage done and credit is due to all those who rolled up their sleeves - to have our county grounds looking resplendent last Sunday. As for the game itself – what a cracker! It was a privilege to have witnessed what can only be described as a ten goal shoot-out, which had more twists and turns than a Le Carre thriller! Our own Brian Hogan and Mark Kelly played their part in serving up a game that will surely whet the appetite for the season ahead – well done boys.
I.T. Evening – One of Our Own!
Well done to O’Loughlin Gaels Secretary Margaret O’Hanlon – who gave a very informative I.T. class to cub representatives on Tuesday last. Margaret was aided and abetted by Seamus Reade (Kilkenny P.R.O.) on the night. The seminar took place in the Kilkenny Education Centre on the Callan Road and allowed club reps to test out new technology in a safe and secure environment. This rep has a while to go Mags – before catching up with ya!
Club Lotto
There was no winner of the O’Loughlin Gaels club lotto this week. The jackpot remains at €20,000. The draw is held every Tuesday night. If you want to be in with a chance to win – purchase a ticket from the usual known outlets or from behind the bar in OLG clubhouse. Best of luck to all.
Mass for Deceased Members
O’Loughlin Gaels would like to sincerely thank Fr Frank Purcell for celebrating a Mass for our deceased members. The Mass took place in our clubhouse on Wednesday last. Eddie Buckley (OLG Chairman) was invited to say a few words by Fr Frank at the end of the Mass. Eddie praised all those who had gone before us but were no longer here and also acknowledged the importance of taking time out to remember and reflect on those who had contributed so much to the club down through the years.
