YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU
Next Sunday is a big day for the St. John’s Parish Community and it’s GAA Club O’Loughlin Gaels. With the seniors taking part in the Senior Hurling County Final in Nowlan Park it’s time for everybody in the Parish to get behind the boys. Wear your colours, roar you support and bring the family along, decorate your house, your car or your business and show the lads that St. John’s Parish is up for this. Our lads have been training all year - from cold wet winter nights under lights to hot summers Sundays, travelling to challenge games and putting their bodies to test , the Final Day has arrived and they’re best prepared for the day. In getting there the boys were aided by a brilliant back room team that left no stone unturned to achieve their goal. Fundraising efforts were carried out all year by different sections of the club to go towards the preparations of all our teams for varying competitions. Lights, hot water, sliotars, hurls, jerseys, refreshments, physios, medical expenses have all got to be looked after and a massive effort be a massive amount of people is necessary to achieve this. There’s Mocksie who opens the dressing rooms..and closes them again..and opens and closes ‘til his blue in the face ..but for the club. There’s the ladies committee who are called to arms at every occasion along with the social committee. The grounds committee and development committees who keep the club in tip top shape, pitches lines, groomed and looking grand for every occasion. The photographers and scorekeepers who keep records of ongoing events. The stewards / volunteers who turn up with their hi-vis jackets to keep everyone safe. The juvenile section who work tirelessly all year every week producing street leagues, tournaments, trips away, Summer Camp and a Schools Day to keep young Gael’s enjoying their hurling ..and all for the club! The Executive are on the ball always to put everything in place so that everyone can do their bit for the club with ease . Sunday is County Final Day..it’s a special day for any club and parish that find themselves fortunate enough to be involved in it. This Sunday its O’Loughlin Gaels GAA, St. John’s Parish and Ballyhale Shamrocks who are the fortunate ones. It’s a day for everyone involved to celebrate the club’s involvement in the parish and the community. All those volunteers will cheer from the Stands and hope that the lads will take the title and become Senior County Hurling Champions for 2016. Be there to support them… cheer them… and help them with one last joint effort. Hon d’Loughs!!

LOCHLAINN THE BULL TO NEW PASTURES…
Last year the players fundraiser 'The Bull Rush' raised funds for gym equipment to be used by the players. The new gym has been realised and is currently in use by the players in a newly refurbished room set aside at the St. John's Park Club Complex. This week the bull at the centre of the players fundraiser 'went to market' and fetched a very fine price too. The players wish to thank Tom & Brian Roche of Greenbridge for looking after the bull calf for the last twelve months and having him in fine fettle for his Mart date. Thanks too to all those who contributed to the fundraiser including raffle winner Gearóid Cleere of Cleere Life & Pensions and all the other Matadors. All Matadors will be posted onto the gym wall in recognition of their contribution and the opportunity is still there for you to become a matador at http://www.oloughlingaels.gaa.ie/store/p12/Club__Matador_.html and contribute to the continued maintenance of the players facility. A big thanks too to fundraiser sponsors SRS Steel & Roofing Systems Fabrications. In a week where the lads have come together again to represent the club at the highest level in Sundays County Final we say well done to all the players....lovely hurling!
The Club will be running a Defibrillator Course open to ALL members. Anyone interested in taking part please text 087 229 8028 to register your interest. You never know.. you might save someone's life!

SHANE RUNS FOR CHARITY
Minor/ senior player Shane Mahony is doing a Charity Run in side of The Alzheimer's Society of Ireland next month in the Castle Park. This is a great cause and Shane is looking for your support. Shane is doing a charity FUN RUN in aid of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (Kilkenny region) on the 20th of November in the Castle Park. Registration is 10 Euro and it's going to a great cause.
It's only when somebody close to you is affected by this disease that you realise how important the carers are to them and how much work they do to help. Currently there are about 48,000 people living with Dementia in Ireland. The Alzheimer Society of Ireland aims to improve the lives of people living with the disease and provides support for their families. There has been a lack of funding in recent years and Shane is hoping help, starting with the Fun Run.
Your support on November 20th would be greatly appreciated!! Well done Shane.
