What a great afternoon at O'Loughlin Gaels. Fair play to Sean Hogan and his merry men for putting together this years Juvenile Christmas Party. From 3pm they began to gather and the large hall filled with music provided by DJ with hit after hit. The young revellers enjoyed the opportunity to dance and meet up with their team mates but with an eye on the door for a glimpse of the man himself. No...not Sean Hogan..Santa!. And true to his word at 3.30 himself and Rudolf swing in from the Hebron road to be greeted by dozens of very happy young faces. A handshake for all Santa made his way to the grotto prepared by the little busy elves who had been on hand from 10am to make sure everything was perfect. And perfect it was..right down to the O'Loughlin Gaels Camogie Club cafe providing refreshment for the parents. An orderly queue was formed..except one unruly bull who charged his way to the front only to be met by one Nick Murphy and sent back to the end with his tail trailing behind him. While Santa met and posed for photographs for almost 2 hours Sean Hogan was busy in the hall organising and manipulating tug'o'war games while the hits continued from the DJ's set.
After Santa met with the last family he went to leave only to find that Rudolf and our new friend Lochlainn the bull had taken the sleigh for a trip around St. Johns Parish..it was back quick enough though...no harm done and Santa left for the North Pole to start working on all of todays requests.
Well done to all who helped today. Today was free to all our families ..all we asked was to give a little to a worthy cause.. Temple Street Children's University Hospital. The generosity of the O'Loughlin Gaels parents was as you'd expect as Santa returned to Temple Street with a healthy donation. Well done and Happy Christmas to all our young Gaels and their families.
