It's going to be a busy few days ahead so get your coats and scarves ready there's plenty to see.
First up is Friday evening our minors bid for another county title. They take on Mooncoin in Mooncoin at 7pm in the Minor Football County Final. This would top a great year for the lads who deserved everything they've achieved in 2014. On Saturday night There's a boxing extravaganza as the Army do battle with Garda forces in what promises to be a great nights entertainment. See attached poster for all details. Then on Sunday morning our Juvenile teams from u8s, u10s, u12s and u14s all take on Dublin oppositions to warm up for the busy summer ahead. It will be well worth a visit to a very busy Johns Park at 11am to see our youngsters doing their stuff. And to complete the full compliment of juveniles in action the u16s play Ballyboden GAA in St. Kierans College. Following on from that our own Mark Kelly hopes to carry his form from last weeks epic performance in Cork to Nowlan Park where Kilkenny take on Dublin in the NHL at 2pm. Best of luck Mark And finally its time to get into your nearest Tardis time machine to be transported to Ratheenagh in Co. Limerick for 3pm where our Junior B team compete for a place in the Junior B All-Ireland Final as they take on Doon GAA in the semi-final. We all wish the lads every success on that one. A big thank you to Lord Mayor Andrew McGuinness who earlier this evening hosted a special ceremony acknowledging the achievements of O'Loughlin Gaels GAA Juvenile Section in 2014.
Juvenile mentors, club officers, players and members gathered in the Chambers as Mayor McGuinness described his pride at having the opportunity to recognise our great club. He remarked upon how from his offices on O'Loughlin Road he has seen first hand the great work that the Juvenile Section does and how happy looking the faces of the young St. Johns parishioners are as they leave our grounds after having played or trained. On behalf of O'Loughlin Gaels Juvenile Chairman Niall Bergin thanked Mayor McGuinness for the invitation and the recognition bestowed upon the club for its work in providing a well balanced environment for the young players in the parish. He thanked the Mayor for his continued support. Niall also impressed upon the gathered members that although it is right to acknowledge last years successes that even without silverware at the end of a season the success is in knowing that the club always did its best, insuring our young members will forever enjoy being part of the club whether it be as a senior or junior player or a club volunteer. The Mayor eluded to the importance of the club as a central community facility and implored all the people if St. Johns parish to take a look at what's going on in O'Loughlins and discover what element if the club suits you best. He finished by acknowledging the passion the club has for inspiring its young players to be rising stars or club stalwarts evoked by the words of the Juvenile Chairman. O'Loughlin Gaels GAA club would like to thank Mayor McGuinness for this wonderful gesture and hospitality which was appreciated by all the members who gathered. We look forward now to a good 2015 as the season gets underway. REGISTRATION DETAILS FOR 2015 (It hasn't changed from last year folks!!!)
