O'Loughlin Gaels u8 boys headed to St Kieran's College on Saturday for the Diocese of Ossory blitz. Clubs from all over kilkenny and surrounding areas participated in this festival of hurling and O'Loughlins submitted 2 teams of well tuned young hurlers. Each team played 3 games facing off against Dicksboro, Naomh Eamonn of Laois, Johnstown and James Stephens. Each game was competitive demonstrating that hurling is strong throughout the county and beyond and our boys showed that they were not wanting when it comes to displaying the best that hurling has to offer.
They're were terrific performances throughout with one or two notable displays...Zach Evans showed that he has the passion to succeed in this game, Luke Hanrahan impressed supporters from all clubs with the range of skills he displayed and Stephen Butler was outstanding all day long and is certainly one to watch for the future. A special mention also must be given to Joe Bolger who gave a fine and confident display even though he only joined our ranks less than 1 week ago. Looking forward to seeing more of that Joe!.
After 3 hours of fine performances and a very successful first outing of the year for these boys they players were presented with their medals by Kilkenny Hurling Manager Brian Cody. Tommy Walsh was on hand also to have a supportive word for the boys and sign a few autographs. A big thanks from us for their generosity as always. On behalf of all our players and their parents we extend a huge thankyou to the organisers for a well run and enjoyable morning.
Photographs show a happy group of our lads oblivious to the wet weather and a very satisfied looking Brian Cody to find himself in the middle of a group of fine young O'Loughlins Players
