JUNIORS NEEDED THE POWER

O'Loughlin Gaels 0:19 to 1:17 John Lockes

A last minute point from James Power broke the hearts of the O'Loughlins support. A great final in Nowlan Park produced chances that could easily have seen our boys celebrating but at the end of any great contest there has to be a runner up. Fair play to the John Locke’s lads , worthy winners of this years Championship. Best of luck to them in the Leinster club championship in a couple of weeks.
Hard luck to all involved and well done on a great year that brought pride to O'Loughlin Gaels GAA

CAPTAIN BRIAN DOWLING ACCEPTS THE JUNIOR LEAGUE CUP FROM CO. BOARD VICE-CHAIRMAN CONOR DENIEFFE
JUNIOR HURLING LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
O'Loughlin Gaels 2-14 to 0-16 Clara.
Well done to the Juniors who outscored Clara in a 2nd half spell by 1-10 to 0-2 to claim this evening's silverware with 4 points to spare. A first half goal by Cian Loy kept the the Gaels in touching distance after a wind assisted first 30mins saw Clara lead 1-4 to 0-14. And with the wind in their backs O'Loughlins upped the tempo in the 2nd half with John Doyle troubling the Clara defence all the way through. In fact John Doyle was alert to the rebound of a penalty save to crash the ball to the net for the victors 2nd goal. The penalty coming after a fine delivery by goal keeper Paddy Delaney that found the hand of the Doc who was unceremoniously hauled down in the Clara square. The work rate picked up when needed resulting captain Brian Dowling picking up a nice piece of silverware for the club's cabinet. Well done all...lovely hurling.

RESULT: Junior Hurling League
Dicksboro 2-20 to 1-20 O'Loughlin Gaels Disappointingly no points bagged from this entertaining junior hurling league fixture in Palmerstown this evening. A decent crowd saw O'Loughlins start well and began the 2nd half 3 points clear. The sides traded scores in the opening moments of the half and a fine goal by the 'boro on the 8th minute put them ahead by 1 for the first time. O'Loughlins returned the next 2 points to claim back the lead but the green flag was raised again for the boro men when goalkeeper Paddy Delaney was deemed to have stepped behind the line after fielding a high ball. O'Loughlin fought back and benefitted form a fortuitous goal of their own on the 50th minute when an Alan Geoghegan long distance effort bounced straight to the net putting the lads 1 point ahead. 1-18 to 2:14. For the remaining 8 minutes it was all Dicksboro and they returned 6 points to the visitors 2 to see out this game. It was a good effort from the lads and a stern test that will serve them well going forward. Well done all

St. Johns Park - April 20th at 7pm - Ref: Stephen Delaney
O'Loughlin Gaels 1-27 to 1-18 Ballyhale Shamrocks
Picture
A healthy start to this years league/championship campaign with a solid win over southern rivals Ballyhale Shamrocks. It wasn't looking so solid at half time as our boys didn't get off the blocks well and really stumbled through the opening period. But with all the faltering they still only trailed by four points at the interval - Ballyhale aided by goal just before the break after an uncharacteristic defensive fumble in the home goalmouth. Half time score  0-11 to 1-12.

Ballyhale were enjoying their visit to St. John's Park with their senior players recognising quality and taking the opportunity to have a light training session on our brilliantly manicured pitches, while their juniors looked content with their four point half time lead. Their contentment was short lived however as the the locals upped their performance in the second half and finished comfortable nine point winners at the final whistle. Alan Geoghegan popped over points for sport and added a well drilled penalty mid way through the second half to set up a comfortable coast to the line. The half back line of Ross Butler Alan O'Brien and Niall Bergin took stock of their line that was rewarded with two fine points from Bergin as they were allowed push forward. Brian Dowling found his scoring radar too, as had ohn Doyle  in the first half  helping to keep the boys in touching distance during that period when it was going so well.

Management will be satisfied that they got the opportunity to make the changes showing options going forward. It was a nice touch for the start of the year...well done all. Lovely hurling.

O'Loughlin Gaels 0-21 to 2-15 Barrow Rangers

A very entertaining match this evening at St. John's Park finished all square. Half time saw the visitors lead by 2pts (0-11 to 1-9). But a great effort by all with some fine point taking meant the spoils were shared at the final whistle. Well done all.
