A fine evening in St John's park brought out a large crowd for the first local derby of the new season. Over 400 people witnessed the young lads from O'Loughlin Gaels but on a fine display of good solid hurling to put in a good score against their city rivals. Excellent performances from all around the field limited the scoring chances for the village while fine forward play from our lads saw them wind up convincing 9-11 winners to the villages 2-4
Once again , tough challenges await down the line but so far so good and the improvement is coming. The man of the match for me was Oisin Murphy with a cracking display in midfield followed closely by Matthew Russell , but the real stand out moment was an elegant hand pass by young David Fogarty that not only left the opposing player wondering how he did it , but the big crowd applauding a moment of fine young skill .
