It was Jekyll and Hyde performances this week as our u12s embarked on their series of Go Games with the first round been played out at the weekend. Saturday the lads headed to Abbeyleix where a formidable home side turned on the style. Power, skill and an overiding desire saw our lads sent home from the County of Laois with a bit of thinking to do. A night of reflection.. and a good pre-match dressing room reality check..and the boys picked themselves up and matched up against St. Lachtains of Freshford at St John’s Park on Sunday morning. A large crowd enjoyed a tight competitive match where both teams went at it hammer and tongs. It was brilliant stuff as both sets of players gave it their all..and the scores kept coming as the lead switched over and back throughout the 50mins of hurling. Freshford took the lead with three minutes remaining and within a minute a fine team effort resulted in an O’Loughlins goal to reclaim that lead. A few final tense moments saw O’Loughlins play like young lions , yielding a free that was duly converted to secure the win. It was a great credit to this bunch of lads that they fought on after the previous days efforts and shows that there is plenty to offer at O’Loughlin Gaels u12s. Well done boys...lovely hurling!
