SENIORS START WELL
O'Loughlin Gaels 2-13 to 2-10 Mullinavat
First outing of the year produced a win on Friday evening at Carlow IT in the first round of the new St. Canices CU Snr Hurling League Div. 1. It may have been bitterly cold at Carlow IT but a very entertaining game had hurling supporters in good form and got Niall Bergin's charges off to a winning start for 2018. Next weekend sees the lads pitted against Erin’s Own in round 2 of the competition. That match is fixed for Canon Kearns Park on Saturday afternoon at 12:30pm but please keep a close on the club’s social media and website for any updates.  Lovely hurling.

BIG DAYS FOR CLUB PLAYERS

Another great job done well by Paddy Deegan with Kilkenny at last weekends league win over Wexford. Paddy continues to have solid performances at corner back for the cats and hi hard work is earning him a regular place in Brian Cody’s plans. Keep it up Paddy.  Well done too to our young Gaels who successfully helped their schools negotiate the All-Ireland Qtr finals last weekend. Next weekend St KIerans College and CBS Kilkenny will compete in respective All-Ireland Semi-Finals for the opportunity to play each other in the final.  O’Loughin Gaels has plenty of representation on both teams and we wish them all well.

SNOW BRINGS OUT THE BEST
Although the snow brought great joy and entertainment throughout, It was also tough going for some people over the last number of days as the snow drifts etc paid havoc on services and day to day activities around St. John’s Parish.  A huge pulling together by the community insured that neighbours and friends were all looked after. Well done to everybody who checked in on elderly and alone friends , those who helped to clear access and help out neighbours to get through the cold spell.
