u11s/12s Celebrate A Fine Season of Hurling Together
u12s Finals - St. John's Park August 27th 2016

It's all looking good for the future at O'Loughlin Gaels GAA as was plainly evident to the large support that turned up at St. John's Park this morning to watch our u12s put on a display of teamwork and comradarie that oozed hurling confidence. This is a team that over the Summer months have become comfortable in their own skins and confident in their own ability to play like a Band of Brothers. Their resolve was put to the test today when after a slow start against visitors Rathdowney Erril they clawed their way back from a half time deficit thanks to some strong leadership and team spirit. First half goals leaked were quickly countered through the brilliance of Alex Sheridan, the guile of Rory Flanagan, the opportunism of Cian Nolan and the work rate of Jack Aylmer. Finn Hogan, Jack Sinnott and Kieran Delaney dominated the rear guard aided and abetted by the powerful Harry O'Grady and the mighty mighty Ruairdhr
í Galwey. Michael Butler joined proceedings late due to a cow calving but once there no one was getting near goal keeper Brandon Wall. Brandon is some man to puck out a ball as his missiles rained down on the opposition half back line to be snapped up by the engines of the team Tadgh O'Meara and Cian Farrell who worked tirelessly to supply Darren Kelly, Gerard Delaney and Co up front. The lads were relentless in this period with the lead exchanging between the teams throughout the latter stages of the game. No quarter given ..no quarter taken, the ash wasn't spared either and there was no sign of surrender as the lads never gave up on anything. These lads were playing with pride..no consideration was given to the fact that four of the teams stalwarts were missing through to illness and injury. With the spirit our boys possess nothing phases them anymore and they play for results. This result was a draw..a fair achievement considering the bad start they were dealt but one the club are very very proud of.

It was the match of the day no doubt about it. Both teams shared the spoils but while Rathdowney Erril got no more results from the remainder of the day our boys went head to head with the O'Loughlin Gaels grey team in an epic encounter that yielded another draw. The scores were plentiful thoughout which meant that both O'Loughlin teams scoring averages put them into 2nd and 3rd places ahead of Rathdowney Erril and behind Emeralds of Urlingford who were unbeaten all year.

Today's fixture was the u11s/12s final competitive fixtures of the year and capped what has been a fantastic season where these boys have shown that they are well up to hurling for O'Loughlin Gaels GAA, with an intensity and passion that is to be expected of champions. We look forward to seeing lots more of these over the coming years so take note of these names..
