O’Loughlin Gaels Under 12’s played host to three talented outfits on Saturday last. Carrickshock and Mullinavat arrived to St John’s Park early on Saturday morning and both gave very good accounts of themselves against our boys. This reporter “threw in the ball” in the ‘Vat game and was impressed with the way the southerners moved the ball quickly from defence to attack. OLG also had star performers in both games and learned a lot from the experience. Mullinavat manager (All-Ireland winning captain – Willie O’Connor) was delighted with the game. This reporter went to give Willie an update of the score at half time but he was more concerned with the players from both teams enjoying themselves and getting as much game time as possible. City rivals Dicksboro then arrived to take on the St John’s Parish boys. A classic encounter of ebb and flow hurling ensued with both teams trading punch and counter punch. The ‘Boro won the first half but OLG came back at them in the second twenty, to claim a narrow victory. In truth though, it was Hurling that was the real winner.
