Juvenile Registration Day for Boys & Girls:

Juvenile registration day for boys and girls takes place on Sunday February 9th next at 10:00 a.m. in St John’s Park. We welcome new members and pledge to treat all equally, regardless of age, ability, gender or background. Our membership rates for the year are keenly priced and are as follows: Juvenile Membership (U6 to U12) €20, Juvenile Membership (U14 to U18) €30, Adult Membership (single) €40 or (couple) €50 and a special Family Membership (2 Adults + Juvenile Player/s) €80. We place a large emphasis on fun and inclusion when training youngsters and we encourage parents to have a chat with our trainers on the day – to get a feel for the club.

Gaelic Football:

Our senior players made their league debut in St John’s Park against Mullinavat on Saturday last. The Continent went down by two points to the ‘Vat (1-06 to 0-07). Those who attended waited with bated breath to see which OLG player would go down as the first in the club’s history to receive the dreaded black card.  This reporter chatted with referee John Guinan and was impressed with his pragmatic approach. John explained that the card would be issued, should a player commit any of the following indiscretions: deliberate pull down, body check or foot trip of an opponent. The card could also be shown for verbal abuse of an opponent, team mate or an official. A black card means instant dismissal for the player, with a replacement being allowed, provided that team incurs no more than three black cards in the game. John wisely kept the card firmly in his pocket and the players from both teams duly obliged by playing the game in the spirit in which it is meant.

Camogie Club Annual General Meeting:

O’Loughlin Gaels Camogie Club will hold its AGM on Friday 31st at 8:00 p.m. The meeting will take place in the clubhouse.

U16 Hurlers Resume Training:

Our U16 hurlers will resume training next Sunday at 12:00 noon. Best of luck boys, for the season ahead.

Mass for Deceased Members:

A Mass for deceased members of O’Loughlin Gaels will be held on Wednesday 19th February.  The Mass will take place in the OLG clubhouse and will be celebrated by Fr Frank Purcell. All are welcome.

Badminton Club Table Quiz:

Johnswell Badminton Club are holding a table quiz in the hall in Johnswell on Friday 31st January next at 8:30 p.m. There are lots of prizes and the quiz promises to be a really good night out. Contact Tony Nolan on 087/2438576.
