O’Loughlin Gaels GAA Club will open its facilities at St. Johns Park again on Sunday for the second fixture in this year’s Leinster Hurling Championship when Kilkenny host visitors Offaly. Volunteers will be needed for stewarding and travelling supporters need to be informed. Please spread the word.
Sunday May 20th at 10:30am – Run With The Players
The Ciara Lawlor Memorial 5k Run / walk will take place in The Castle Park on Saturday May 20th at 11am. Registration for the event is €10 and will take place at the Tennis Club from 10am. All members and friends of O’Loughlin Gaels are invited to take part alongside the Senior Hurling Team & Camogie Players at 10:30am to run in support of the Lawlor family and remember Ciara. Registration through the club is online on the club website with all proceeds to be donated to the Ciara Lawlor Memorial for the charity The Ataxia Foundation. Please register early…wear your club colours and run for Ciara.

PLAYER NEWS
Well done to Paddy Deegan who played his role in Kilkenny’s dramatic win over Dublin in last Sundays Leinster Championship match in Parnell Park. Further club involvement with the minor panel where Conor Kelly (14 pts – 12 of which were frees), Jamie Young, David Fogarty and Niall Higgins all represented the parish on the Kilkenny Minor team that had a great win over Dublin. Senior Club Manager Niall Bergin was also a selector with the team. Well done all. Next weekend all players are out again with Minors playing Wexford in Nowlan Park on Saturday and the Seniors playing Offally at the same venue on Sunday. Please show your appreciation for our players .

Summer Camp details will be handed out to juvenile players over the next few training sessions. Always the highlight of a young players season all are encouraged to register. It’s all very quiet on the club fixtures front these days but all our teams are continuing with some very good challenges and training sessions. There will always be plenty of hurling around the fields at St. John’s Park just drop in any evening and have a look.

Bealtaine Festival continues next week with “2D Needle Felting’ with Maire Hanley continuing on Thurs 17thfrom 10.30 -12pm( fully booked).
The Maire Keating Foundation Mobile Unit will be parked in Carpark on Wed 16th May from 11-3 pm, it’s a drop-in unit, staffed by nurse, with information on all types of cancer.
There will be a talk in the Library on making healthy choices to protect your body at 12 pm , titled ‘Your body, Your choice’, free for all. Please avail of this great service.
Our last Lunchtime recital will be Fri 18th with Mark Anthony McGrath from 1-2pm, playing ‘ O Carolan’s Connections’ , well worth listening to.
The following week we have talk ‘La na mBan: Irish women against conscription in 1918 on Thurs 24th from 1-2pm’ and talk by Reidy Foley Solicitors on Making a Will on Tues 29th at 6.30pm.
Our knitters meet every Tues from 5.30-7pm and French Language every second Fri (next May 18th), from 11-12.30pm.
