SENIOR HURLNG CHAMPIONSHIP
The lads managed to maintain the three point advantage they held going onto the second half right to the final whistle but not before a few heart stopping moments as the game closed when The Rower were forced to press for an equalising goal. A stoic O’Loughlin Gaels defence was not letting that happen however and the Gaels saw off the challenge to book themselves a place in the final in two weeks time.
The second Semi-final today had last year’s champions Clara dethroned by the previous year’s Champions Ballyhale Shamrocks, who are going to be formidable opponents in the final. It’s knuckle down time for the next two weeks..all hands on deck as the Club and St. John’s Parish prepare for a County Final. Be there on October 30th and support your club.

1976 was an especially successful year for O'Loughlin Gaels GAA. Just in its seventh year in existence O'Loughlin Gaels had successes at u21 (County Hurling and Football Champions), U16 (County Hurling '77 and Football Champions), and u14 (County Féile Champions). This year the club will host a social evening for all those players involved where story's can be racounted, memories revisited and friends remembered. The social event will take place on November the 5th in the club.
NEW GYM TAKING SHAPE
Last January the players got together with their own fund raising initiative The Bull Rush. The monies raised was to fund new gym equipment at the club and soon their wish will be realised. The space has been developed over the last few months and very soon the equipment will be installed for the benefit of all the players. This is a great example of club leadership brought about by the players themselves and their efforts are now being rewarded with a County Final date. Well done lads.

FR. LORCAN MORAN FOR ST. JOHNS
We are all very pleased to welcome Fr Lorcan Moran back to his home parish of St John’s in two weeks’ time as the fourth member of our Parish Team.
His appointment will commence on the weekend of October 22/23 and we are very blessed to have him minister with us in the parish.
Son of Mrs Aileen Moran, Michael Street, a daily member of our congregation, Lorcan was ordained to the priesthood for service in the Diocese in 1982, thirty-four years ago. Since then he has served in parishes such as Thomastown, St Canice’s, St Mary’s and as Chaplain to St Luke’s Hospital.
For the past four years, Fr Lorcan has be Parish Priest of Ballycallan Parish, a parish which includes churches at Ballycallan, Kilmanagh and Killaloe.
Sadly, however, he hasn’t enjoyed great health in recent months. His doctors have declared him unsuitable to drive a car (he must be the only non-drinker we know of to be off the road) but he’s still declared okay to ride a bike – happy days!
We look forward to him working with us, and should you ever spot a ‘wandering Cleric’ thumbing a lift to Johnswell or Dunmore on a Sunday morning, be a sport and give him an auld lift!!
ST. JOHNS 10.30 CHOIR
The 10.30am Choir will resume on the 16th October. New members are very welcome.
