O'Loughlin Gaels GAA club member Niall Kenny saved the best for last when he struck Gold for Leinster in the 4 x 100 m relay in the Special Olympics All-Ireland finals, which took place in Morton Stadium, Santry at the weekend.
Niall ran what turned out to be the decisive third leg at the top of the bend. When he reached for the baton, it was Munster who were on the front foot. Niall set about closing the gap on his rival and then opened up one of his own, to give his team a lead they would not relinquish.
Loud cheers greeted Niall Kenny and his teammates as they took to the winners' podium to be proclaimed All-Ireland Champions!
Well done Niall..congratulations to you and all the Kenny family

U13s Roinn A and Roinn C got their campaigns off to a disappointing start losing out to Graigue Ballycallan and Ballyragget respectively. Good hard contests were not reflective of the end scorelines and the boys will be looking forward to the next rounds eagerly. Brandon Wall, Luke Hanrahan and Orestas Balsys all out in good form against Ballyragget while Conor Murphy, Conor Daly and Joe Bolger all gave good accounts of themselves against Ballyragget. Well done all.
Well done to our u9s and u11s who continue to compete in tournaments and Kilkenny GAA’s BlackandAmberDays series..giving all our young new hopefuls the opportunities to compete for their club against a range of oppositions at different venues.
Lots of fixtures this week with the Juniors, Junior Bs, u15s and u13s all scheduled to play games. Please support our teams.
