KILKENNY TEAMS

Well done to all our players that represented Kilkenny last weekend. Paddy Deegan had an impressive performance with the Kilkenny Seniors with an equally impressive three points from play to match. Mark Bergin earned a return to championship action also coming on as a late replacement contributing to the team’s victory.  No less than five of our minors earned Leinster Minor Medals in Croke Park on Sunday afternoon .  Jordan Molloy, Conor Heary, Eoin O’Shea, Ben Maher and Mikey Butler all formed part of a panel that beat Dublin to come away with the silverare. Tonight (Wednesday) the Kilkenny u21’s play their Leinster Final and Huw Lawlor has been working hard with the Kilkenny Panel in their preparations for championship glory.  Well done to all the lads ..lovely hurling.

JOHNSWELL BADMINTON

Well done to all concerned.

RACE NIGHT

The Club's biggest fundraiser - the annual O'Loughlin Gaels GAA Dog night - takes place in two weeks time at Kilkenny Dog Track. This is one of the biggest events in the Club's Calender Year while also serving as it's most important fundraiser. All those hurls, sliotars, bibs and buses need to be paid for. Anybody with tickets sold please return them and if you've still tickets to sell it's time to get on the case. Race Night is a great family night...hot dogs and fast dogs and plenty of club friends to have the craic with. Sold tickets can be returned to team managers or into the bar each evening

CHANGES AT PARISH SCHOOLS

Best wishes to John Cooney who retires from teaching after 34 years at St. John’s School in Ballybought Street. John can be accredited to introducing many young lads to playing hurling and handball in St. John’s Parish and O’Loughlin Gaels GAA. He’s enthusiasm for educating young boys and girls has stood to all that have been lucky enough to come under his radar.

Pupils and staff gathered to celebrate Mr Cooney's 37 years in St. John's Senior School and the School's chamber choir provided the music singing 'Here Comes the Sun', one of Mr. Cooney's favourite songs.

Pupils read from a book of poems and letters written by themselves which was then presented to Mr. Cooney and a slideshow had some of the highlights of Mr Cooney's time at the school.
To prepare for the sunny days ahead Mr. Cooney taught pupils and staff a career favourite, an Australian song 'Aussie BBQ' . Well done Mr. Cooney, best wishes and enjoy your retirement.
