O'Loughlin Gaels GAA Club holds its Annual Golf Classic in Kilkenny G.C. on Thursday 28th & Friday 29th August. €150 will get your team of three a tee time on the time-sheet and a chance to win some wonderful prizes. Two legends of the GAA bumped into one another in Letterkenny recently. Our own Damien O'Connell (Doc) called in to see Donegal sharpshooter Michael Murphy on the occasion of the opening of his new sports shop in the town. I hope ya listened to Damien's advice Michael - cos everyone around here knows - that the DOC knows his GAA. O’ Loughlin Gaels are delighted to host their annual Under-6 hurling blitz on Sunday, 24th August from 10am for teams from the following clubs: Dicksboro, Clara, St. Patrick’s (Ballyragget), John Lockes (Callan), Young Irelands (Gowran), Cushinstown( New Ross), O’ Loughlin Gaels and Erin’s Own (Castlecomer). The first matches will start at 10.30am and every player will receive a medal for their participation from our Senior clubmen Brian Hogan and Mark Kelly, fresh from their defeat of Limerick in last Sunday’s thrilling all-Ireland Semi Final. We look forward to welcoming all our U-6 friends and their families and hope for a good turn out on what promises to be a fun morning for all. Kathy Egan O'Loughlin Gaels would like to extend best wishes to four of its finest who do battle in Croke Park on Sunday in the All-Ireland Semi-Finals. Ross Butler & Daniel O'Connor don the Black & Amber against Waterford in the minor which throws in at 1:30. Brian Hogan and Mark Kelly are both named in the starting fifteen for the 3:30 senior game against Limerick. Get behind our boys and spare a thought for their families, who travel in hope and expectation. OLG Summer Camp gets underway this week. The Camp throws in on Tuesday August 5th for two weeks and promises to be a festival of fun for all concerned. Niall Bergin (organiser) was in touch with this reporter to say there are a record one hundred and sixty eight boys and girls signed up for this year’s camp. By the end of Summer Camp 2014, your child will have had a chance to learn and hone their GAA skills in an environment that is encouraging and participative.
