Sunday September 25th at 2pm
John Locke Park, Callan - Referee: John Kennedy
O'Loughlin Gaels 2-13 to 1-13 Dicksboro
Just the tonic before Championship gets underway. A good win over Dicksboro with Mark Kelly getting off the blocks early with 4 points from play (of 5 in total). At the other end of the field goal keeper Stephen Murphy contributed to a fine defensive display with three saves including a fine double reflex saves after a one and one situation with an inrushing forwardat the death that the forced the ball away from the danger area. The ball did make its way back in but the referee spotted the Dicksboro forward waiting in the square and blew for a free out to ensure no extra time would follow. Stephen also added to the score board with a pointed free. Full forward Mark Bergin accounted for 2-6 of the total (1-4 from placed balls), while David Burke added one minor. It was a much needed win as the championship looms. Two weeks to iron out the creases and with James Stephens being the opposition everything must be right. Good work lads..keep it going.
Team: S. Murphy, (0-1) A Forristal, A. Kearns, E. Kearns, S. Mahony, B. Hogan, P. Deegan, E. Grant P.Butler, H. Lawlor, D. Burke(0-1), M. Kelly(0-5) , D. Loughnane , S. Johnston, M. Bergin(2-6)
