The U-18 girls were away to Windgap last Tuesday evening; the girls put in a great performance and won 4-6 to 1-5. Laura Murphy opened the scoring with a point from a 45, Windgap equalized with a point from play. Bronagh Cleere won a ball on the Windgap 45 and went on a long solo run that resulted in a very well taken goal. Windgap added 1-1, the Loughs replied with two points from Laura Murphy and Aoife Whelan to leave the city girls one point up at halftime. At the start of the second half the very effective Bronagh Cleere scored two goal in the space of two minutes, Windgap added a point before Aoife Whelan won a ball out on the wing and headed straight up the middle of the Windgap defence and struck a great point. Some great work by the O’Loughlins forwards resulted in a Bronagh Cleere Goal her Fourth of the night, Aoife McKiernan scored a great point from close range, and Windgap added two points before Bronagh Cleere finished the night off with a point from play. The O’Loughlins defence was excellent all night and they cleared ball after ball and would not let the Windgap girls settle on the ball. The Midfield pair of Megan O’Keeffe and Laura Murphy put in a great night work. The forward passing, work rate and support play was excellent.
