Fenians 0-7 to 1 - 15 O'Loughlin Gaels

The O'Loughlin Gaels Junior A Hurlers produced their best performance of the year in Johnstown today ( Sunday July 31) when the breezed past the home Club, Fenians, in the Championship first round, which incidently also doubled up as a relegation semi final for the losing team.
With the aid of the strong wind in the first half the City taem raced into a 7 points to nil lead in the first 20 minutes. Indeed they missed quite a few scores in the opening half and could thank the accurate Sean Bolger(8 points) for going in at the break 10 points to 4 in front.
The Gaels took their time exiting the dressing room and straight away tore into the wind assisted oposition. Pat Byrne and Fergal Brennan(2) scored three of the first four scores of act 2 while Webster added to The Fenians' men total. Brennan again got on the end of a well worked move and fired to the net on 50 minutes making the score 1.13 to 7, a gap that the Fenians would not close. Final score O'Loughlin Gaels 1.15 Fenians 0.7
O'Loughlins had won no game during the League campaign and were delighted to keep their third adult team safely in this Junior A division. They look ahead now to a Northern Quarter Final clash with League Table Toppers and Championship favourites Young Irelands of Gowran next weekend
